A Legacy of Leadership and Generosity

Dr. James D. Evans and Mrs. Lois A. Evans

For more than four decades, President Emeritus Dr. James D. Evans and former First Lady Mrs. Lois A. Evans shaped the heart and future of Lindenwood University. This summer, their enduring commitment reached a historic milestone: a planned gift of 90% of their estate to Lindenwood—marking the largest individual contribution in university history.

This unrestricted gift will empower generations of students and employees, reflecting the Evans’ lifelong dedication to education and service. Dr. Evans, who joined Lindenwood in 1974, led the University through transformative growth as professor, provost, and president. His visionary leadership elevated academic programs, enhanced campus infrastructure, and advanced Lindenwood’s athletic legacy.

Mrs. Evans, a gifted educator and beloved First Lady, brought warmth and wisdom to the campus community. Her legacy lives on through the annual Lois A. Evans Gifted Education Award and numerous scholarships the couple established or contributed to, including the LeRoy and Charlotte Evans First-Generation Student Scholarship.

“We are deeply honored by the extraordinary planned gift. The Evanses’ gift demonstrates their enduring commitment to the students of Lindenwood,” President Dr. John R. Porter said. Their gift is a powerful reminder of how planned giving can make a lasting impact.

Join the Evanses in building a brighter tomorrow—consider including Lindenwood in your estate plan today.
